Our Church's Tenants
Under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Reverend Alvin A. Francois and Sister Josie F. Francois were given a vision to organize a community church. Even before the first service, Pastor and Sister Francois named the future edifice—Belfair Baptist Church because of its future location within the Belfair Community.
On August 6, 1972, the first service was held across the street from the church’s current location at 4444 Fairfields Avenue in one of the buildings owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. We are grateful to God for the church’s growth during the early years of its existence. Since that first worship service in 1972, God’s continued blessings have been upon Belfair Baptist Church.
On June 2, 2002 Pastor Alvin A. Francois appointed Jon D. Bennett as pastor-elect of Belfair Baptist Church and subsequently installed him on September 8, 2002.
Led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Bennett has continued in the church’s rich legacy of biblical teaching, expository preaching, missions, and prayer while redirecting the church’s focus on its role in the family, the community, the state, and the world through the incorporation of a holistic approach to ministry that addresses the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of its members and the surrounding community. The BBC GROW Ministry was birthed with a strong focus on evangelism, discipleship, and worship. Under the visionary leadership of our pastor, new ministries have been established and existing ministries have been resurrected and revitalized to address BBC’s continuing pursuit of reaching the lost and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.
Belfair’s future is filled with hopeful anticipation because we walk by faith and stand on the promises of God! Together we have witnessed sinners come to Christ, new believers join our ministry, and committed Christians mature in the Word of God. In the words of our motto, Belfair is a church that is “Building lives on the Word of God.” To God be the glory!
We envision a praying church;
a body of believers collectively in pursuit of spiritual maturity;
members equipped to carry out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment;
and a ministry meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of its members and the Belfair community.
Our environment is one where we do life together. We are a church family where people can find help, healing, and hope. Our members share various interests, care about each other, and come from diverse backgrounds. We meet throughout the week to worship God, study the Bible, pray with one another, serve our community, share our faith, and fellowship with each other. We come together regularly as a church family to strengthen our commitment to God and each other.
Belfair Church responds to the social and spiritual needs of our youth by providing fun programs, activities, and events that will allow them to express their faith through their own words and actions.
Our children and youth are encouraged to use their individual talents in the programs and ministries that interest them in an effort to nurture their growth as people of faith, so that they may follow the example of Christ.
Our youth staff will nurture and value your children and youth by providing them with exciting spiritual training and amazing experiences.
